CONFERENCE LOCATION
The conference is hosted by UC Irvine, located 40 miles south of Los
Angeles, 75 miles north of San Diego, on the Pacific Coast of Southern
California. It is well-known for its proximity to beautiful beaches,
mountains, national parks, resort destinations, and theme parks and
other major attractions, such as Disneyland (15 miles) and Hollywood
(45 miles).
The weather is dry, with summer temperatures moderated by ocean
breezes. In June, the average daily high temperature is 75 F (23 C)
and average monthly precipitation is 0.14 in (0.36 cm).

TRAVEL TO THE CONFERENCE
AIR TRAVEL
SUSY06 will be held in Irvine and Newport Beach, California. The
conference site is conveniently located near the many airports of the
Los Angeles metropolitan area. Orange County Airport (SNA), also
known as John Wayne Airport) is the most convenient; it is located
just 5 miles from the conference site and has regular service to and
from all major U.S. airports by all major carriers. Also convenient
are Los Angeles International Airport (LAX, 44 miles) and the Long
Beach Airport (LGB, 25 miles). Other nearby airports with connections
to all major American cities are the Ontario International Airport
(ONT, 47 miles), the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank (BUR, 56 miles), and
the San Diego International Airport (SAN, 85 miles).
Foreign participants may travel to Los Angeles International Airport
(LAX), or transfer through any of the major American airports and
arrive directly at Orange County Airport (SNA). Prices to SNA are
subject to the considerable vagaries of airfare pricing, but are often
comparable to the inexpensive fares for travel to LAX.
GROUND TRANSPORTATION (ALL PRICES ARE APPROXIMATE)
From Orange County Airport (SNA): Participants may take a taxi
(~$15). For further information and other options, see the SNA website.
From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX): Participants may use the
SuperShuttle shared van
service (~$48 for first passenger, ~$9 for each additional passenger)
or take a taxi (~$120). For further information and other options, see
the LAX website.
From Long Beach Airport (LGB): Participants may use the SuperShuttle shared van service
(~$41 for first passenger, ~$9 for each additional passenger) or take
a taxi (~$65). For further information and other options, see the LGB website.
Note that renting a car is not required. Bus transportation is
provided for the public talk and conference banquet dinner cruise; all
other conference events take place in the conference hotel. In
addition, the conference hotel is surrounded by a large variety of
restaurants and shops within easy walking distance.

Registered conference participants may park cars at the hotel for

ACCOMMODATION
SPEAKER INFORMATION
Laptop projectors, overhead projectors, wireless microphones, and
laser pointers will be available at all plenary and parallel sessions.
Speakers giving laptop talks are asked to bring a laptop or borrow one
from another participant. Laptop computers will not be provided, and
internet access will not be available in meeting rooms.
All conference talks will be posted on the conference website. To
facilitate this, speakers are asked to send electronic versions of
their talks to susy06 [at] uci.edu as early as they are available.
Submissions in advance of the conference are particularly welcome. If
an electronic version is not available, please drop off overhead
transparencies at the registration desk so that these may be scanned
and returned to you.
